Keeping Motivated In Politics

It's February 12 here when this commentary is being written and that has to make you wonder why exactly it's been almost a month since the last update here. It's not like that there hasn't been much news out there, because it's abundant. It's simply a matter of motivation in the political arena.

How is one supposed to remain motivated to keep updating a website or a blog site on what's going on in the world of politics. I often find it difficult to find the words to express sometimes on some of the most important issues out there, or maybe it's just pure laziness. Either way, it's kind of sad really and a true disservice to those who would stop by to read the latest update that has been posting here on StompMud.com.

As someone who's seriously invested and interested in doing something better for this country or atleast helping to get the right message out there, I am letting not only myself down, but those who would be interested just by the things that I might have to say. That's why this political blogger has made a decision and is going to stick to it. At bare minimum there will be one article per week posted to this site from here on out, it not at least two. Two would be a worthwhile goal, but let's not count our chickens just yet.

No more will issues be ignored and no longer will things in which this blogger has a tough opinion on go without a few words or just left to a meaningless article post on his personal facebook. It's time to post back in the debate forums here with the latest news and move forward in keeping the world informed. I type this not only as a goal and promise to myself, but as a goal and promise to you my readers. Though there might only be a few of you, I hope one day for that to change and the only way that will ever change is if there's content to attract people here to this wonderful site.

There are far too many issues regarding the presidency, our congress, our states, and the world as a whole for there not to be content here that everyone deserves, especially with an opinion that is rational and well thought out. You can't find that just anywhere and that's something that I pride myself on here.

Just a few thoughts on this day and thought I'd put it out there that StompMud is here and quite active. Just have to get up off the rear end and keep things moving along. That's the goal here and it will be stuck to. You can count on it!

I Have A Dream - Modern

Today is the celebrating of the birth of civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. and I find it fitting to offer my own "I have A Dream" commentary post here in his honor. I don't pretend to know Dr. King's full intentions, but I will do my best to take a fair guess at what he believed. It's a shame the world we live in today and the struggle we still have based on race and color.

I have a dream that one day all citizens of this great nation will be treated as equals and that we will live up to our creed that: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal."

I have a dream that one day all patriots of this great nation wishing to seek work will not be judged based on their gender or color, nor will the question dare be asked of what they consider themselves to be.

I have a dream today that one day in the near future women and men will no longer have to tell their employer embarrassing facts about their financial situation. That the fact they fell on hard times and had to receive government assistance matters today means we are unequal and this must change.

I have a dream that just because citizens of this great nation were the victim of a disaster in the great city of New Orleans, that we can let these people move on and not have them as a special class of citizens when they fill our their employment application.

I dream of a day when organizations like the NAACP will no longer be relevant and we can have the "National Association For The Advancement of American Citizens." Why a group only plays to colored people today just shows of the great distance we still have to travel to make sure all men are created equal.

I have a dream that students entering university are admitted solely on merritt and not because of some quota their state requires for groups considered to be minorities. We do our children a great injustice in education and in our future as a nation with such requirements.

I have a dream that one day political parties will no longer pit races against one another just so they can advance their agenda. No longer will they be using people's own weakness against them. No longer will they take advantage of a lack of education rather than taking the time to help educate the people who possibly need their help the most. This great disservice to human beings, just so they can gain power is truly sad that it takes place in this nation still today.

We are all brothers and sisters in this great nation. We are people who bleed the same shade of red. We are all people who must eat food and drink water to stay healthy. We are all citizens of a great nation that continues to be put at odds by those who might benefit from such in-fighting.

It's time that we stand up. It's time to say NO to those who would dare try and still try to segregate us in their own way. We must fight back and say, "We Are All Americans and we demand to be treated equally."

There are no second-class citizens and there is not one of us that isn't capable of fighting for life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our color does not matter in these things and we all have the same great oppurtunity in being born in such a great nation.

My dream is not naive and I encourage each and every one of you today to stand up for your fellow citizens and demand the change needed to end the segregation we still have on this day. This is not only my dream, it's the American dream and one that we can all look forward to.

I share this dream I have with you today to make it no longer a dream, but the reality it so deserves to be to make our great nation what it was destined to be.

From The Desk: The Adam Lambert Controversy

You know as someone who tries to look at the world from outside the box, I find so many things on both sides of the moral spectrum rather amusing. This situation with Adam Lambert and his performance at the American Music Awards is definitely one of them. It has pitted the gay rights advocates versus the religious right against each other again but why?

Let's really look at what's being complained about here. The religious right is claiming once again that mortality and the gay agenda is being shoved down our throats, while the gay rights activists are claiming that people are just creating a double standard here once again. Is that's really what's going on here? Is it really that big of a deal either way? Honestly, it's not.

Everyone is missing the overall point here. Adam Lambert went up there to make a name for himself. He wanted to have that shock factor for his first public televised performance of his new music. He wanted people to be talking about it for days after, and that's exactly what he accomplished. Was it controversial? Sure it was, but that was the whole idea that many people seem to be missing here.

The honest truth, regardless of sexual orientation is that the majority of people don't want to see that type of display on television. It doesn't matter if it's a gay kiss or a straight kiss, most people feel that it's something that doesn't belong on a live performance like that. You can be provocative and not make everything physical. Adam Lambert went with the full-on in your face physical performance though. He rubbed a man against his leg near his crotch and he stuck his tongue down another man's throat. Of course it was going to raise and stir, and for most people the sexual orientation or nature had nothing to do with it.

As I said, Lambert got exactly what he wanted and look here even you are reading yet another opinion article on this whole ordeal. Sure, some of the response is bigoted and some of it is going to be used as a way for the gay community to get back on their milk crates and scream, but this is exactly what was supposed to happen and Adam Lambert is now selling albums because of it.

A wise man once said, "even bad publicity, is good publicity." In the music industry of today that is hard to break into and make a name for yourself, Adam Lambert got exactly what he needed to succeed.
